KAMPALA\r\n– April 21, 2016: The\r\nJudiciary has assigned two judicial officers to act in senior positions.

Her Worship Joyce Kavuma, the Nakawa Chief\r\nMagistrate has been assigned the role of acting Deputy Registrar while His\r\nWorship Samuel Kagoda Ntende, a Grade I magistrate will act as a Chief Magistrate.

Judiciary’s Chief Registrar, His\r\nWorship Paul Gadenya, who is the administrative head of the lower-bench (Magistrates\r\nand Registrars), said the vacancies were created following the retirement of one\r\nof the Deputy Registrars, H/W Otto Michael Gulumali, early this year. The\r\nofficer, who retired after clocking 60 years, has been in charge of the High\r\nCourt’s Land Registry.

"His retirement necessitated me to\r\nrequest the Chief Justice to assign a competent qualified officer to take up\r\nthat assignment until the Judicial Service Commission either confirms or\r\nrecruits,” he said.

The Chief Registrar adds that the assignment\r\nof H/W Joyce Kavuma as acting Deputy Registrar had created a gap within chief\r\nmagistrate ranks."…that is why the chief justice has again assigned H/W Samuel\r\nKagoda, a Grade One Magistrate, as acting Chief Magistrate.”

H/W Kagoda’s station at the Magistrate\r\nGrade I Court at Kira, Wakiso, will equally have to be filled with one of the\r\nexisting Magistrates Grade I at the time of posting, according to H/W Gadenya.
